Damrauer Lab
Summary¶
The Damrauer Lab is a research group led by Scott M. Damrauer at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. The laboratory uses genetic data linked to clinical cohorts and electronic health biobanks (such as the Penn Medicine BioBank and the VA Million Veteran Program) to identify causal disease pathways. The group routinely applies Mendelian Randomization and cis-Mendelian Randomization for target validation and precision medicine in cardiovascular disease.
Research Focus¶
- Cardiovascular Gene Mapping: Discovery of causal genetic loci associated with peripheral artery disease, abdominal aortic aneurysms, and coronary artery disease.
- Clinical and EHR Data Integration: Analyzing electronic health record-linked cohorts to evaluate risk predictions and the causal role of phenotypes.
- Precision Therapeutics: Prioritizing drug targets using genetic instrumentation prior to drug design or clinical trials.
